The Science Behind CONTINEWM®

Prof.Ryuji Sakai is the producer of the most effective Made-in-Japan energy-saving solutions for air-conditioning and heating.
CONTINEWM® doesn't require any modification to the existing HVAC units, and it quietly makes its job for years.
An internationally patented innovation featuring minimalist design and hassle-free installation.

The concept behind this technology originated almost 20 years ago with Japanese Professor Ryuji Sakai (pictured) and his team, who began investigating the properties and potential benefits of distinctive mineral conglomerates extracted from tectonically fractured volcanic formations in a specific region of Japan.
Their primary objective was to develop a specialised ceramic compound — now internationally patented — capable of treating airflow within air-conditioning and air-treatment systems.
Professor Sakai’s team conducted years of research in collaboration with university scholars and laboratory specialists. Their goal was to create an entirely green technology capable of helping companies worldwide reduce their electricity consumption: their work ultimately produced a filter mesh incorporating the patented ceramic compound, engineered to:
1) neutralise the electrostatic turbulence that prevents optimal contact between the airflow and the heat-exchanger fins;
2) interact resonantly with far-infrared radiation and naturally occurring ions which eliminate bad odors from the air.
The CONTINEWM® system was first installed in air-conditioning equipment at the University of Tokyo for scientific testing. Results subsequently replicated by several other institutions and independent third-party laboratories demonstrated that the treated airflow became more conducive to efficient heat exchange.
This enabled HVAC systems to reach the required temperature while consuming significantly less energy 25% less on average.
Over the past 10 years, the product has been widely adopted internationally, to retrofit existing HVAC systems.
Professor Sakai named the technology CONTINEWM®, combining the Latin word "CONTINUUM", conveying continuity or permanence and referring to the enduring air-treatment effect with "NEW", reflecting its innovative character:
the technology was subsequently internationally patented under the name CONTINEWM®.

Product Description
As you have red in the e-brochure you can see above this paragraph, each CONTINEWM® Net is a flexible 49 × 48 cm hexagonal mesh containing patented active materials. It can be easily cut to size and adapted to existing air-conditioning units or duct sections.
It can be easily cut on size to be hosted in any kind of air treatment machines.
CONTINEWM® can be retrofitted to existing HVAC systems in just a few minutes per unit and delivers average electricity savings of approximately 25%, with a typical short return on investment. With no moving parts, electronics, power supply, or components requiring adjustment, maintenance is virtually unnecessary.
One of its principal effects is the reduction of electrostatic divergence between airflow and the HVAC heat exchanger. This improves heat-transfer efficiency, allowing the system to reach the required temperature more quickly and reducing the operating load and runtime of compressors and related equipment.
The technology combines static elimination, Far Infrared Ray effects, and patented Japanese material-processing methods. These properties also help reduce the sources of unpleasant odors (sweat, rotten fruits, sewage, chemical, smoke) and contribute to improved indoor air quality through a natural air-ionizing effect.
Developed in Japan over almost 20 years and entirely manufactured there, CONTINEWM® technology is now distributed across 40 countries, including markets in Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States.
By reducing HVAC electricity consumption, CONTINEWM® Nets also contribute to significant reductions in CO₂ emissions, providing a practical sustainability solution that combines energy efficiency, lower operating costs and improved indoor air quality by precipitating PM 2.5.
CONTINEWM® is used across a wide range of sectors, including travel & hospitality, commercial buildings, schools, retail facilities and industrial complexes. Please see below the indoor set up of this tech.

Homogeneous temperature distribution feature
In indoor spaces, temperature uniformity is crucial for both well-being and productivity. Without it, those working near windows may feel too warm while those close to the AC unit may feel too cold. CONTINEWM® solves this imbalance, creating a more harmonious indoor climate due to the disaggregation of water molecules clusters that produce a more uniform distribution of temperatures that water particles (humidity) carry along with them.
This feature helps achieve temperature homogeneity, ensuring a more even distribution of cool air across the room for improved comfort — whether for guests, clients, or employees.
Room temperature variance (delta), between hot and cold measured points is reduced by up to 57%, with an overall drop of 1 – 3ºC.
As described in www.continewm.net this system breaks down clusters of airborne water molecules (humidity) into much finer particles, enhancing air circulation and heat distribution and exchange. The result is a more uniform thermal environment, significantly lower energy use, and the end of the usual “fight for the remote control temperature set-up”.

As we see, with CONTINEWM® Nets, room temperature is distributed more evenly throughout the indoor volumes: CONTINEWM® help break microscopic clusters of airborne water molecules into smaller groups, supporting more uniform heat distribution and improving thermal homogeneity while reducing energy consumption.
This is especially important in large indoor spaces, where people near windows may feel too warm while those close to HVAC outlets may feel uncomfortably cold.
The result is a more consistent indoor climate, with fewer differences in comfort across the room.
CONTINEWM® is an all in one solution for air quality because it supports precipitation of PM 2.5 particulate and elimination of organic and chemical odours: this combination of improved air quality and greater temperature uniformity can enhance comfort, well-being, satisfaction, and productivity throughout the working day for the satisfaction of our guests, team members and customers clients.
Unpleasant odors elimination

CONTINEWM® Nets offer advantages not only in terms of energy savings, but also in indoor air quality improvement. They help eliminate unpleasant biological and chemical odors while adding the benefits of an efficient and sustainable natural air-ionizing effect to any existing HVAC system.
With CONTINEWM®, your check-in guests, no longer face unpleasant smells - whether from rotten fruit left behind, cigarette smoke from previous guests, sewage overflow, or chemical odors from new carpeting or adhesives.
Between guest check-out and check-in, rooms will be fully deodorized, creating a fresh and welcoming atmosphere for your customers.
Installed invisibly inside the air conditioner, CONTINEWM® eliminates odors within ~90 minutes of AC operation.
No more bad reviews - just bright smiles from your guests and happier tour operators!
